Drugs

Remember that you are subject to the laws of the country you are in. Don't let the fact that drugs are readily available and commonly used in some foreign countries mislead you into thinking that authorities will not arrest offenders (users or possessors, or simply those associated) - in some cases the very people who sell them also tip off police for rewards. Remember also that guilty in some countries is guilty until proven innocent. Should you wind up in trouble with the law due to involvement with illegal drugs, there is very little your home countries government will or can do to help you out. You are on your own.

If you are carrying drugs, you are most likely to be caught while in transport, especially over international borders. For this reason, you are also at risk for being the victim of a drug plant when crossing borders. See Transportation for more information on precautions you should take to avoid unintentionally smuggling drugs for the real criminals. You should label all of your own (legal!) medications with their generic names in order to avoid any confusion.
